The Online Resource for Houses, Homes and Places
In an age where everything is documented, logged and micro-dissected, the founder, Martin Knight, was surprised that there was no central, on-line, easily accessible resource for the history of houses, homes and places and the bio-geographical history of notable people throughout the ages and across the world. The Blue Plaque system operated by the Department of Heritage and focused mainly on London recognises the public interest and social and historic importance of such information, but is, understandably, limited in its scope. We feel strongly that the people (not a committee of public servants) should decide who, and which buildings, deserve a virtual plaque or even a physical one. Notable Abodes believe that every country, town, village and even street has a claim to fame (or notoriety) and has confidence that the public will prove this as they add to and improve on the information held on the site.
