Products & Services Prostate Cancer If you are concerned about prostate cancer, and you should be, you have to understand one crucial thing… Don’t be afraid to ask. In fact, the number one most important thing to do is to find someone local who is an expert, like Dr. Robert Puig, who is a recognized expert in Robotic Prostate Surgery, so that he can check you out and make sure that you do not have to deal with this monster alone. There are incredibly helpful, experienced doctors and urologists who are well versed in this field especially in the Miami area. Experts like Dr. Cosme Gomez at Urology Specialty Care can spot out prostate cancer before it’s too late and show you the tools you need to protect your life. Kidney Stones & Ureteroscopy An ureteroscopy is one of the safest methods for removing kidney stones. It can even be performed on pregnant women, patients who are taking blood thinners and obese people. Those are some of the reasons that doctors prefer ureteroscopy over more invasive procedures. What you should know: An ureteroscopy is a noninvasive procedure that is used to remove an ureteral or kidney stone. It can be performed at a clinic for urology. The first thing that the urologist will do is insert an ureteroscope into the urethra. After that, the urologist will pass the ureteroscope through the ureter and bladder, so that he/she can get a better view of the kidney stone(s). Once the urologist has located the kidney stone, a laser will be used to break up and remove the kidney stone(s). The amount of time that this procedure lasts depends on the number of stones that are getting removed. However, the typical time that an ureteroscopy lasts is between 15 and 20 minutes. Urinary Tract Infections A urinary tract infection can prove to be quite discomforting to say the least and inconvenient to be subtle. It should be understood however, serious issues can stem from a urinary tract infection if left to spread the kidneys. To prevent this, identify the signs early. Do you feel a constant urge to go to the bathroom and urinate? Is this urge reoccurring yet you’re only passing low levels of urine? Is there any blood or discoloration in your urine? Does seem to be cloudy in appearance? Does it hurt to urinate or does your urine smell odd? Couple these symptoms with perhaps a deep pain in the pelvic reason and you’re a prime case for a possible UTI. A urinary tract infection will likely happen eventually and obviously more frequently for some women. A UTI is painful without a doubt, but with no treatment, it can prove to be quite detrimental to our health. A common misconception is that this condition will eventually go away on its own, don’t fall prey to this notion. It is crucial to be able to identify the symptoms and understand how they are to be treated. A UTI basically is an infection that develops when bacteria gets in the urinary tract, through the urethra and heavily multiplies in the bladder. The urinary system is composed of the kidneys, bladder, urethra, and more. Any of those components get infected. The majority of infections involve the bladder, the lower urinary tract, and the urethra. Women statistically are at a far higher risk of developing a urinary tract infection than are men. This statistic increases further in sexually active women, going through menopause, or on birth control.
